Born in Belgium, Gréta discovered clay at the age of 11 and since that day, clay became her universe.
It was in the attic of her parents’ farmhouse in Belgium that Gréta started to explore the world of ceramics. Her family moved to Québec and shortly after Gréta visited the 1001 pots ceramic exhibit in Val-David and made a note that one day she would be part of this artistic community.
She enrolled in private ceramic courses to pursue her dream, working non-stop to produce and refine her art. In 2017, she designed and built her dream home-studio along the water in the artistic community of Morin-Heights in the Laurentians Québec. The natural world surrounding her studio provide her with a calm peaceful and creative environment where she continues to create her collections.
In her collection “White and Black”, the artist works with white porcelain delicately and with precision to capture the beauty of the light shining through the material. “When I work, I enter into dialogue with the material: clay. It resonates, full of emotions.
I love ceramics and pottery. I discovered Gréta’s work when I was visiting a design store in St-Sauveur in the Laurentians. I feel in love with her work and purchased three pieces. I had to discover who she was as I knew that one day I would show her work in our gallery so I went on a mission to find her and here she is in our gallery. So happy to have her beautiful work and to know this wonderful Canadian artist.

NOIR ET CHARBON COLLECTION.
These sculptures are made of Charcoal Black, a black porcelain that reveals subtle shades of black depending on the light and thickness. Born without a defined plan, they were guided by the movement of my hands and the natural evolution of matter. Starting from bases of varying diameters, each piece was carried out slowly, taking shape at its own pace, in its malleability, followed the unpredictable path that I traced for it, creating a spontaneous and intuitive whole.
I choose not to give them a name, leaving everyone the freedom to project themselves into them and tame them in their own way.
