nathalie Laramée

fairy tale artist

It’s a perfect morning in the Laurentians, Québec.  A little fairy tale is stirring and Nathalie’s dog, Molly, is ready for her morning walk.  Nathalie is already awake and thinking about her art and what she’s going to create today.  As she sets off for an hour’s walk in the Bellefeuille woods, she’s eager to get back behind her easel in her studio, where she spends her days painting, making jewelry, glass and pottery.  It’s here that she gives free rein to her imagination and creativity.  The very last hour of the day is sacred to her meditation, as she relaxes and prepares for the next day.

Born in Montréal at the age of six, like most established artists, art was already a big part of her life.  She loves to paint and create.  Numerous visits to museums and art galleries with her parents led to her dream of becoming a recognized artist.  Her parents enrolled her in art classes in Outremont, Québec. Nathalie pursued her studies with a teacher from  École des Beaux-arts de Montréal, and became obsessed with the Impressionist artist Renoir, the Expressionist artist Matisse and the portraits of the Italian artist Modigliani.

Today, Nathalie has created her own style, often incorporating glass and pottery into her paintings to render them in 3D.  She loves to paint her childhood memories, her encounters with people and the flowers in her gardens.

Her collection les jardins de mon coeur tells the story of the significance of flowers and impact on life and what the world would be like with flowers.

Gordon and I had met Nathalie at La Farandole des arts visuels, a symposyium in Sainte-Marguerite-du-lac-Masson in the Laurentians and have followed her artistic journey.   We are proud to have her part of our gallery.
