Catherine Vamvakas Lay

award winning canadian contemporary glass sculptor

Gordon and I share a passion for glass and for unique colours, composition and creation.  We discovered Catherine’s work and added it to our art collection.

We are proud to have Catherine’s work at the Gordon Harrison canadian landscape Gallery.

Catherine’s technique with glass is exquisite and challenging.  Through her work, Catherine strives to connect the individual with the elemental forces of our physical and spiritual world.

Her work is inspired by our transforming nature and symbols.

She was born in Crete, Greece and lives and works in Toronto. Catherine holds a bachelor degree in Fine Arts and a bachelor degree in Administrative Studies from York University, as well as a diploma in glass from Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning.

She is the proud recipient of numerous awards as well as provincial and national grants.  Her work has been selected for publication and she exhibits extensively, nationally and internationally.

Her work has been exhibited in Canada, including Glendon Gallery, Toronto, The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, Waterloo, Bata Shoe Museum, Toronto, The Visual Arts Centre of Clarington, Bowmanville, Toronto Pearson International Airport, and several times at Harbourfront Centre, Toronto, as well as the United States, The Netherlands, Japan and Korea.

Her artwork is sophisticated, stunning and a vital addition to any sculpture or glass collection.
